Many users still ask why the usage or service life of steel wire ropes on Grab applications is shorter compared to hoisting wire ropes (holding and close/open) ???
In fact, the service life of steel wire ropes used in Grab applications is always shorter due to the following factors :

- By design, the pulleys diameter in a grab system are smaller than the pulleys diameter in the holding or open/close wire rope systems. This results in a smaller bending radius for the grab wire rope compared to the holding and open/close ropes, causing the grab wire rope to experience greater bending stress.
- The travel distance of the grab wire rope from one pulley to another is very short, which leads to a much higher number of bending cycles
- The abrasive and dusty environment where the grab wire rope operates—caused by the material being handled—results in the rope wires experiencing more severe abrasive wear.
